A Wish List is Not a Budget, Davanzo Says
February 4, 2025
HARRISBURG – Rep. Eric Davanzo (R-Westmoreland) issued the below statement following Gov. Josh Shapiro’s budget address Tuesday:
“I appreciate that Gov. Shapiro has a wish list. I can think of dozens of things I would change if we were playing ‘King for a Day.’ But we have to move beyond posturing games and put forth a serious spending plan that puts Pennsylvanians first. The fact is that we cannot afford a $51.47 billion budget that raises state spending by 7.5% over the current year. Fiscal responsibility is more about prioritizing and making wise choices with taxpayers’ dollars and less about wish lists.
“The governor’s address is really just a first step into a very deliberate and detailed budget negotiation process. This session, I was appointed to the House Appropriations Committee, and I will be able to question every state department about how efficiently they operate. I am more than ready to get into those nuts and bolts and help craft a budget that keeps government spending in check and respects taxpayers’ dollars.”
