Davanzo Announces Nearly $470,000 in Funding for Improvement Projects
March 18, 2025
HARRISBURG – Rep. Eric Davanzo (R-Westmoreland) announced today the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has approved nearly $470,000 in state funding for community improvements in the 58th Legislative District. Davanzo worked to secure the Local Share Account (LSA) grants for the projects.
“While there are plenty of projects our municipalities would love to complete, most don’t have the resources to cross off everything on their wish lists,” Davanzo said. “I’m glad we were able to bring this funding back to our district to make these important equipment and facility upgrades.”
The local grants included:
• Monessen City – $6,789 to purchase new equipment for the city’s public works department.
• Monessen Volunteer Fire Department – $29,960 to purchase new equipment.
• Mount Pleasant Township – $108,960 for the construction of a salt storage shed.
• North Belle Vernon Fire Department – $56,178 to purchase and install a generator.
• North Belle Vernon Police Department – $67,030 to purchase a new police interceptor, along with a new mobile radio and mobile laptop.
• North Huntingdon Township – $35,500 to install security cameras at Oak Hollow and Indian Lake parks.
• Rostraver Township – $25,000 to install sidewalks to connect the Magistrate Office sidewalk to the Veteran's Memorial sidewalk.
• Scottdale Fire Department - $38,000 for equipment upgrades.
• Sewickley Township Volunteer Fire Company – $19,774 for the purchase of a CPR compression device.
• Smithton Volunteer Fire Department – $31,951 to purchase a new squad truck.
• South Huntingdon Township – $50,000 to purchase a new street cleaner.
Sen. Pat Set Stefano (R - Fayette, Somerset, Bedford and Westmoreland) was instrumental in the grant awarded to the Scottdale Fire Department.
“Pennsylvania’s firefighters have an incredibly stressful, difficult job to protect people and property in terrifying circumstances. It shouldn’t be made even more challenging because of the pressure to fundraise simply to have the critical equipment the job requires,” Stefano said. “This grant will ease the burden for the men and women who already do so much for all of us.”
The grants were approved and awarded by the CFA, which was established as an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth. LSA grants are derived from gaming revenues.
