Davanzo: Scottdale Scores $100k in State Funding, Nearly $700,000 to 58th District

March 18, 2026

HARRISBURG – Two grant awards to Scottdale top more than $100,000, Rep. Eric Davanzo (R-Westmoreland) announced today after the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has approved nearly $700,000 in state funding for community improvements in the 58th Legislative District.

“Safety and public works are routinely the highest priorities for our local officials, who work hard to keep taxes as low as possible while still providing the residents with the highest level of services possible. Grant funding is one of the ways Harrisburg can help with those priorities,” Davanzo said. “I was happy to work with my colleagues, Sen. Pat Stefano (R-Westmoreland/Fayette/Somerset/Bedford) and Sen. Kim Ward (R-Westmoreland) to see this kind of investment in the 58th district.”

“Supporting our first responders is essential and I’m proud to see this funding directed to Scottdale. Investments like these strengthen the vital services our communities rely on every day,” Stefano said. “While this funding is just a small thank you compared to the sacrifices our firefighters make, I hope that having updated, more reliable equipment, lightens their load, even in a small way.”

After speaking with Scottdale fire department leaders about a pressing need to replace 23-year-old communications equipment, a $45,000 grant will be used to purchase six new mobile radios for use in fire trucks and two base radios for use in station operations. Also awarded was a $60,000 grant to purchase a new public works truck used by borough staff to maintain roads and sidewalks.

Additional grants include:

East Huntingdon Township – $165,000 to retrofit an existing building used for vehicle storage.
Economic Growth Connection of Westmoreland – $50,000 to a bucket truck for use by Central Westmoreland Career and Technology Center’s Powerline Program, which provides students training on utility line work.
Hunker Borough - $56,855 for stormwater improvements on Locust Street.
Monessen City – $27,000 to purchase a utility vehicle for public safety purposes.
Mount Pleasant Township – $100,000 for a new municipal truck.
North Belle Vernon Borough – $90,000 to purchase a new police vehicle.
Rostraver Township – $61,000 to purchase a mobile column lift for improved vehicle maintenance and service.
South Huntingdon Township – $50,000 to purchase and install a generator at its municipal facility.
West Newton Borough – $45,000 to purchase a brush chipper for the public works department.

The grants, known as Local Share Account (LSA) grants, were approved and awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over Pennsylvania’s economic growth programs and investments. LSA grants are derived from gaming revenues.
